There are really diverse and wonderful restaurants in Gran Canaria. You can eat local cuisine in small casual cafes or international specialties in formal and expensive restaurants. Here are just a few of them:
• El Novillo Precox – This pricey restaurant in Las Palmas specializes in South American style barbecue.
• Hosteria Cruz de Tejada – Located in the central mountains, this once famed parador is known for its roast kid, rabbit terrine, and bienmesabe (almond cake).
• Meson La Cuadra – Their menu comes from their own farms, and includes suckling lamb, goat cheese and a milk curd dessert.
• Taj Palace – Located in Puerto Rico with a great view across the harbour, and live music, they specialize in fine Indian cuisine.
• Roma Italian Restaurant – Found on Playa del Ingles beach, they are open for breakfast, and serve everything from pizza to international dishes. They have wonderful live shows and flemenco dancing at night.
• Espetada – Also on Playa del Ingles, this small family run Irish pub and restaurant has amazing food and ambiance.
• Fusion Restaurant and Loungebar – This unique restaurant on the southern end of the island is spacious and elegant, serving fine southeast Asian cuisine.
• Amaiur – An old country house in Las Palmas, their specialty is oven-baked sea bass in a mushroom sauce. But save room for their fresh mango and guava sorbets!
